Barrows make mountain top in weekend feat

WHEELBARROWS – whether makeshift, workshop-built or bought at a local hardware store – were pushed into Beechworth’s Camp Street on Saturday.
Behind them were teams made up of more than 100 people prepared to take on the serious challenge of ‘driving’ their barrows from Beechworth to Mount Buffalo.
It was an extraordinary idea born of four Beechworth men – Guy Wilkinson, Martin Prebble, Clayton Neil and Ross Kearney – to commemorate the 80th anniversary of a similar feat achieved by a Beechworth mechanic and a publican.
