• Youngsters clock up reading matter

    IT’S a great big number, but last month Beechworth Primary School year three and four students completed 133,792 minutes of reading at home. Class teacher Jamie Pronk said that the reading program had been running throughout last term and had proved very popular.
    “We set the goal of 10 minutes of reading for every child each night and now we’ve passed our original group target of 100,000 minutes”, he said.
    Student Ruby McCormick said she loved reading and that her favourite book was ‘The day the crayons quit’.
