BEECHWORTH netball’s A grade team won by a whisker on Saturday, claiming the golden victory over Wahgunyah by one goal in round three of Tallangatta and District competition.
It could have gone either way for the A grade side but Beechworth hung on until the very last second.
Izzy Grundy was awarded best on court, with Alicia Maskel and Carina Tenace also receiving accolades for their performances in the nail biting clincher.
The Bushies A grade team has lost two games and won one so far.
The pre-season was looking good for the ladies senior side before a few injury setbacks.
After nearly 11 years of playing for Beechworth Eidenne Surrey has been sidelined for the first time after she dislocated her knee in a practice match.
“We have a pretty young side again this year but even Thurgoona, a top team in the league, said we made them work hard and pushed them so there is plenty of promise,” Surrey said.
“We had a strong side but then two of us did our knees before round one so that has made it hard.
“There is potential for it to be a good season and we aim to improve each week.”
