HOLE-IN-ONE: Brian Cropley had a hole-in-one on the par 3 10th on Sunday. Brian has battled numerous health scares and has only been playing golf regularly for the last 18 months, and has put to shame a lot of the lower handicap players as he claimed the hole’s first ever hole-in-one since the course was redesigned in 2011.PHOTO: Supplied

Parliament House might have had its fair share of controversies in the last few weeks, but there were other affairs happening at the Beechworth Golf Club on Sunday, as nine players were voted in for a Stableford event.

Dual citizenship was not an issue on this occasion as Australian-born Brian Cropley (35) took the honours on 39 points, leaving Col Carmody (21) and Jamie Dolny (15) feeling rather cheated as they both got beaten in a three-way countback.

Those who were forced to resign amid a bombardment of speculation and innuendo were Dean Howard (23) 34, Dave Atkins (29) 33, Jacob Howard (30) 33, Andy Croome (16) 33, David Lang (21) 32, and Simon Carracher (17) 32.

Despite Malcolm Turnbull’s stance on sexual relations with staffers, Jacob still knocked up a Nearest the Pin on the 3rd, while Brian emulated Barnaby Joyce by hitting a hole-in-one on the 10th (but this one will not lead to the birth of a child).

Also unlike the former Deputy PM, players’ loyalty will shine through next Sunday when the men and women marry together for the Club’s Opening Day from 1pm.
