• Water milestone


    THE small farming community of Stanley reached a significant milestone earlier this month when it took its concerns about groundwater extraction to the office of Victorian Water Minister Lisa Neville.

    Representatives from Stanley Rural Community Incorporated (SRCI) met with a senior ministerial adviser about the impacts of ongoing groundwater pumping from the Stanley plateau for use as bottled water fill.

    The Parliament House meeting in Melbourne followed a Stanley community delegation with supporters to the city five months ago in which 1200 letters calling for changes to water and planning legislation were delivered to the Premier’s office and another to Ms Neville’s office.
