Unmarked ANZAC legacy

THIRTEEN unmarked graves were discovered in a nationally significant project to record the military history of WW1 veterans buried at the Beechworth Cemetery.

The collaborative project by the Cemetery Trust with families and other groups, has been successful in having twelve military graves constructed with the last one completed last month.

Beechworth Cemetery Trust Chair Robert Scott said recognition of the forgotten soldiers was part of our heritage in that kept the ANZAC tradition alive.
