A Lion’s share of funds

DELIGHTED representatives from four local organisations and a foundation received a total of $2,500 between them at a Beechworth Lions Club presentation held at the Hibernian Hotel last week.

With the Lions mission to help its local community with projects, the club handed over cheques for the value of $500 each to Beechworth Health Service chief executive officer Mark Ashcroft for a new cabinet in the entry way to the Acacias aged-care residence as well as Beechworth Fire Brigade’s Josh Kadol for the Melbourne Firefighters Stair Climb.

The climb – an annual event – raises vital funds for research, support services, and to raise awareness of mental health issues such as depression, post traumatic stress injury (PTSI) and suicide.
