FALLS Creek and Mt Hotham alpine resorts are opening their snow seasons this Saturday, a week earlier than expected.
Vail Resorts Australia, which operates the lift companies at both resorts, said that this week's natural snowfalls of well over a 30cms, together with the hard work its its snowmakers on both mountains, has allowed the early start to the season.
Nathan Butterworth, Mt Hotham Skiing Company general manager said it has been a magical week at Hotham.
"We've watched the resort transition from green to white and I'm thrilled to be able to bring the season opening forward and welcome guests back to what is very special part of Victoria," he said.
With experts predicting more than one metre of snow still to come over the next week, Vail Resorts Australia said it was looking forward to welcoming guests back to Falls Creek and Hotham and kicking off the season.
